Meet Rachel Saltzman Friedland

A resident since Aventura’s founding, Rachel Saltzman Friedland knows what it takes to keep our city a wonderful place to live.

As an attorney, long-time civic champion, and advocate for children and families, she’s committed to using her experience to stand up for every family in Aventura.

Rachel has worked tirelessly to create new opportunities for students in South Florida. She applies her knowledge and work ethic as a member of the Aventura Charter School Advisory Committee and is a founding member of the Don Soffer High School Foundation Board.

She is also heavily active in the Aventura Turnberry Jewish Center Synagogue as a founding member of the Social Action Committee, which visits and serves communities in need and helps encourage a culture of service. In all that she does, she strives to help Aventura residents best fulfill the Jewish value of tikkun olam – repairing the world – by working together to create a stronger community.

For her entire life, Rachel has been committed to philanthropic efforts throughout Florida and beyond. A proven fundraiser and event organizer, Rachel constantly inspires others to help the less fortunate.  She is active in the Broward Partnership for the Homeless, where she regularly serves food, provides homeless residents with legal aid, coordinates donation drives, and delivers toys to children living in shelters. Her commitment to vulnerable populations transcends borders: she’s a long-time volunteer Board Member with Beit Issie Shapiro, the largest organization in Israel dedicated to helping disabled children and their families.

As Principal Partner at her law firm, Rachel W. Friedland, PA, Rachel knows what it takes to responsibly manage a small business. Her years of experience in law means she knows how to navigate sensitive situations and get the job done. Her work on behalf of local and statewide candidates for office has given her a deep understanding of the legislative process. Rachel’s professional and political experience has given her all the keys to success on the City Commission: she understands how to balance a budget, negotiate effectively, and work across all levels of government.

While Rachel’s background alone ensures she will be a strong public servant, it is her dedication to better the lives of her children, her greatest joy, that makes her a remarkable leader. As a single mother, attorney, education activist, sports and artsy mom, and philanthropist, Rachel serves as an inspiration to all young women who aspire to make an impact on their community.

Rachel has raised four wonderful children, Dylan (16), Alec (13), Ella (8), and Camryn (5), all of whom have attended Aventura schools since Kindergarten. When not working as a Family Law Attorney, Rachel loves watching her kids play sports in the JCC or Aventura leagues. After growing up in Miami Beach, she moved to Williams Island, where she’s proud to raise her family. She loves living in The Point in Aventura, and her plan is to live in the City of Excellence for her life.
